Musings, tips and the occasional rant from the world of online dating.
The eWooing Week In Review, some articles about Internet dating or related stories that might be of interest from the past week. Not much worth reading this week in Internet dating news this week. Usually you will find links to some news and views you can use to help you in your search. But this week we read a lot of them and only one was worth passing on. So without further ado, here it is.
MAN DATES GAL ON INTERNET FOR SIX MONTHS — AND IT TURNS OUT SHE’S HIS MOTHER!
Two things about this article it is to have happened in France and it was originally from the Weekly World News which is a tabloid. So as to the validity of it, I don’t really know. I came across it this week via Yahoo! News and thought it was at least really funny whether real or fake. It does make you take a step back and think for a second who the heck am I typing to when sending an email to a potential internet date. What can we learn from this article fake or not is that you should definitely opt for a phone call or a meeting a little sooner than after six months of email correspondance.
Happy Reading and Merry Almost Christmas!!
The eWooing Week In Review, online dating articles that I found informative on interesting. A few more online dating articles this week than last. We read a lot of them and post links to only the ones that are worth a read. Here are five good articles for your perusal. Enjoy!
Looking for Love (or a Date) on Cable TV
I have seen these on my Comcast Cable OnDemand Service. None of them seem to be from my area actually but I can watch them. They are a couple minutes long of people answering questions that are asked off camera. With a video you get to see personality along with all the other normal online dating profile info.
Hank Investigates: Date and switch?
Watch or read this report from WHDH Channel 7 News in Boston.
Background checks split matchmaking sites
If there was a one stop shop for background check information then maybe it would be of some use. This article points out some of the holes in the present system. Would you be interested in background checks for potential dates?
Internet dating tips keeps talk safe for those seeking love
You can never be too safe when participating in online dating.
Just a guy trying to find love on the web in verse. A bold attempt to break his bad luck curse. A Toronto man looking for that special mate. One who is funny and really quite great. I believe in his poem he said he even likes to dance. So all you ladies of Toronto give Les a chance.
The eWooing Week In Review, some Internet dating articles that I found interesting or informative this past week. There were not very many articles worth the time this week. That is why you come here though, because we read them and post links to only the ones that are worth a read. Here are two good Internet dating articles for your perusal. Enjoy!
Keeping your online dating business private
This is an Internet dating article from my local paper about privacy and safety. It is an answer to a question that was sent in by a reader. The tips provided are good and should be followed to keep yourself safe online but they don’t really answer the question that was posed. The person asked:
Q: I just broke up with my boyfriend and I am interested in trying to find someone online. I am a little embarrassed — how can I keep this from my friends and family?
The answer to the question is to use an Internet dating site such as eHarmony, Perfectmatch or Chemistry.com. The only people that can see your profile are those that the systems match you with. This is a much smaller number of people than who can see your posting at a large Internet dating site such as Match.com or Yahoo! Personals. At these sites anyone with web access can find your online dating profile. Making it easy and quite possible that someone you know will come across it. Whatever you ultimately decide you should follow the safety tips in this article. Also, if you are going to meet someone that you met online then you will need to tell someone. A friend or family member should know where you are going and what you are doing as an added safety precaution when you first meet somebody in person. Common sense is always the best policy when meeting anyone for the first time.
Web match clicks with wedding date
An Internet dating success story, these are always nice to read to keep the hope alive that we as online daters will also find that special someone.
The eWooing Week In Review, some Internet dating articles that I found interesting or informative this past week. Some news and views you can use to help you in your search. We read a lot of them and post links to ones that are worth a read. Here are three articles for your perusal. Enjoy!
Legislator considers an online dating law
They are talking about a law in Illinois that would require all internet dating sites to perform background checks. This sounds like a good idea except that there is no central database for criminal background checks. Not to mention you can just pick a name out of a hat and sign up. I guess if you were caught you could be prosecuted like a guy is right now by True.com for saying he wasn’t a felon when he signed up for the service. Just seems like if you are going to use these dating services you should use common sense just as if you were meeting someone in any situation these days. Although sites like eHarmony, Match.com and Yahoo! Personals all have a contract for members that include stating that you are not a felon.
The rise in the number of singles over 40 who are now using internet dating has grown significantly in the last couple of years. This is one of the largest growing segments right now and internet dating sites like SilverSingles are filling the niche quite well. The article also mentions some books that may be of interest to someone in this age range looking for a little help before venturing out in the world of internet dating. They are:
The article talks about the idea of knowing what your dealbreakers are. In this case the article mainly focuses on religion. The Q&A section where they asked many singles how religion played in their dating life was quite interesting. Most seem to be looking for someone that is of the same or similar background. A book mentioned in the article is Conscious Dating: Finding The Love of Your Life in Today’s World.
