Interesting Dating Online Articles

by @ 6:36 pm. Filed under In the News, Week In Review

It’s the eWooing Week In Review, some articles about dating online and related stories that you might find of interest from the past week. As always there were a lot of dating online articles to read but only a few that are really worth reading or checking out. So here are two dating online articles for your perusal. Enjoy!

Felons, sex offenders target of online dating legislation

I agree with the guy at the end of the article. He makes a very good point about giving the scarlet letter or in this case the orange hat for people to wear in public so we all know who they are all the time. How far is too far? Would you support this legislation? Would you be more likely to trust an online dating site that did background checks?

The Five-Year Itch

Article about the slowing growth of online dating sites recently. What types of features or ideas would you like to see online dating sites implement? Web Cams? Anonymous phone service? Tools to help make it easier to meet in person? What would you do to improve online dating?

Have some thoughts on the above dating online articles leave them in the comments.

OFT warns of online dating scams

The British Office of Fair Trading is warning people of possible scams in the online dating arena. The best tip and one that seems like common sense is to never send anyone funds or bank information of any type. If someone can’t afford to come and meet you without financial assistance from you then as Nancy Reagan used to say: “Just Say No.”

Love ‘Em, or Leave ‘Em

Click on the video link at the top to watch the story about sites like TrueDater.com and others where you can post information about how truthful an online dater they are. The best line from the story was in comparing these types of sites to CarFax, the site for finding out about the history of a car before you purchase it.

The mythology of 21st-century dating

Listen to the CNN Podcast on Modern Dating. A 40 minute discussion about the options for dating in the modern world. These include online dating, speed dating and the like. Some Interesting Online Dating Articles

by @ 1:53 am. Filed under In the News, Week In Review

The eWooing Week In Review, some articles about online dating or related stories that might be of interest from the past week. Actually from two weeks ago. The power was out and I never got around to posting until now. There were a lot to read and only a few that were really worth anything. So here are four online dating articles for your perusal. Enjoy!

When writing your profile, give it some heart

Some good tips and examples on sprucing up your online dating profile so you can stand out from the crowd.

Take a Second Chance with that First Love

The idea of using other sites than online dating sites, such as ClassMates.com to find that special someone. In this case someone you may have known or been attracted to in high school. An old friend becomes new again.

Online Valentine

This has some truly funny recounts of experiences with online dating. While this person has given it up as it is not for him, he does think that it can be good for some people.

So, just who pays for a quasi-date?

Miss Manners on who should pay for that first meeting beverage. She says that going back and forth in a relationship is the right way to go. So you would have to go past a first meeting to find out if this would be the case with the person you have met. I figure the person who initiated the request to meet should pay. That seems fair to me. What do you think?

A Few Interesting Articles About Online Dating

by @ 4:54 pm. Filed under In the News, Week In Review

The eWooing Week In Review, some articles about online dating or related stories that might be of interest from the past week. There were a lot to read and only a few that were really worth anything. So here are five online dating articles for your perusal. Enjoy!

Meet Internet Daters: The Never-Ending Casting Session

Some funny little online dating anecdotes. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, online dating is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get.

SINGEL BOUND

A ring for single people to let other people know you are single and looking. What do you think? Would you where a ring like this?

Is technology replacing humanity?

This is an interesting question. In some ways we maybe are. Like the listening to an iPod or something instead of interacting with the people around you or talking on a Cell phone instead of with people around you. On the other hand, something like online dating is meant to help facilitate a face to face meeting. A way to find other people that have similar interests or are compatible in some way.

Starbucks, Yahoo! Cross-Market Personals

Find a date, grab a lattte. It’s Esspresso Dating with Yahoo! Personals and Starbucks Coffee. I mentioned this last week also but it is worth mentioning again as you can get a $10 Starbucks gift card when you sign up with Yahoo! Personals through February 19th. Read the guide. Meet some people. Buy some coffee.

Cupid deserves more respect

A look at online dating versus a blind date. To me they seem very similar. Except supposedly the person putting the two of you together knows something about both of you.
