Musings, tips and the occasional rant from the world of online dating.
Do you love the country way of life? Tired of only being able to find city slickers that just don’t get you? Well CowboyCowgirl says they are the dating site for you.
They say:
Members come to CowboyCowgirl.com to meet other people who share an appreciation for the ‘country’ set of values and way of life. We also provide a means to meet these members through matching, messaging, and chat systems that are second to none. But don’t take our word for it! Take a look around. We think you will like what you see!
I did a little search myself of their site. Within 50 miles of my zip code they had 45 women available for contact. When I narrowed down the search criteria to an age range closer to my own I was left with 15. Seeing how I live in the suburbs of a big city I would expect this to be the case. Perusing the profiles they definitely seem to be of people looking for others who enjoy a slower pace and like animals and small towns.
You can sign up for a free profile and do pretty much everything on the site except contact others. Only paid members can send a first contact message. Memberships can be purchased in one and three month increments. If you are dissatisfied with the service at anytime during your membership period you can get a refund.
This is a small online dating site that caters to a small niche. If the idea of roping yourself a partner sounds like fun then mosey on over to CowboyCowgirl and see if you can’t rustle up a date.
The eWooing Week In Review, some articles about Internet dating or related stories that might be of interest from the past week. Some news and views you can use to help you in your search. We read a lot of them and post links to ones that are worth a read. Here are four articles for your perusal. Enjoy!
Niche dating sites match habits, pets, disabilities
The article talks about the rise of niche dating sites. If there is a group then there is probably a niche dating site just for them. Look for the Niche Dating Site of the Week here at eWooing every Monday.
Bachelor pad: Dating scams prey on the lonely - and the stupid
More than anything else I liked the title of the article. Talks about internet dating scams that try to lure men into porn sites. Tip: If a woman sends you to their so called personal website and to enter it you have to fork over your credit card info then she is probably not a real person. Just bait to lure the lonely and stupid.
Lawsuits accuse online dating sites of deceptive practices
Yahoo! Personals and Match.com have been sue recently. They are accused of things like setting up fake profiles and sending employees out on fake dates to keep people signed up and to improve their statistics to make their site seem better than they are. I hope these turn out to be false or at least isolated cases of individuals and not unstated company policies. That would be a terrible development for an industry that has just in the last couple of years started to take off with the general public.
Sweetheart, You’re a Real Work of Art
Russiam woman artist posts self portraits of herself on internet dating sites and then gathers the email responses to display next to the pieces in galleries and art shows.
Who’s on your online dating team?
Do you have a group of single friends? Want to meet other groups of singles? Well that is why TeamDating was created. This online dating site attempts to help you meet that special someone in the safety of friends. You already go out with your friends looking to meet new people, right! Now you will, guaranteed. This site allows you to make plans ahead of time with another group or team in this case.
What they say:
The main overall concept that current sites are missing is that love is not formulaic. There is no exact science to this, and too much emphasis has been put on telling you whom your match is. Well, we all know that what looks good on paper, does not always translate into reality. All of the current dating websites also are geared for 1-1 interaction, and thus cause feelings of loneliness and isolation, not to mention that they are missing the “real life” factor of how we normally socialize and meet people…with or through our friends. Couple this with the tremendous amount of fear and concern over the safety of Online Dating, TeamDating.com allows for groups of friends to use the online world as a natural extension of their current social lives, and meet other groups of friends.
The site allows for groups as small as two and as large as four. You can also create multiple teams and be on as many as three of them. This allows for all kinds of meeting combinations.
You can sign up for free and that will get your teams profile and your individual profiles in the database to be searched. Also you will be able to send other teams a Quick Hello. With paid membership you will be able to send and receive emails and see what other teams have viewed your profile. Also you can respond to other teams when they send a Quick Hello. Membership starts at $10 per team member per month and goes down even more the longer you sign up for.
If the idea of meeting another person one-on-one scares you to death and that is what has been keeping you from trying online dating then this might be the online dating site for you. Stop complaining about not meeting anyone and start meeting everyone, well at least a few teams of them anyway. Get a friend or two and try TeamDating.
I received in my email inbox today an email from Match.com about their free guide on How to Find the Right Person in 90 Days. This is free to anyone who signs up. The guide is geared to help you find out about yourself so you can find the right person for you.
The twist is that they have added a new section to the guide for the Holiday season. They say:
Being single during the holidays can be difficult. In fact, as you watch happy couples snuggle up for warmth, share hot chocolate and give each other Eskimo kisses on a cold winter day, “difficult” can be a major understatement, according to more than a third of singles we recently polled. But it’s time to shake off that impulse to say, “Bah, humbug.” Why? Because we know a few fantastic facts that you don’t—and they can change your life.
The first part of the guide is comprised of seven tips to help you be more successful dating during the holiday season. The best of these tips is to stay positive and embrace the holidays. These kind of go together as a happy person is a more attractive person. If you are positive and have fun with the season you may have a better chance of meeting that special someone.
The next part is about pairing the season with your online dating. The idea is to holiday up your profile. Talk about what you like about the holidays and the things you like to do in the winter activity wise. Also they recommend posting some photos with a winter seasonal style, like you on the slopes if you love to ski.
The third part is a Q&A regarding some holiday dating essentials. Like I just met someone should I invite him or her over for the holidays? The answer being no, family introductions can be seen as a big step in a relationship. One or the other of you might get the wrong idea of where you think you are at in your budding relationship. Other items covered are gift giving, office parties and whether I should break it off now or wait till after the holidays?
The Holiday section of How to Find the Right Person in 90 Days has some good information and tips. It is more than just information for the online dater. It is for the single person, whether looking for love online or off. Many of the tips and suggestions are ways to meet someone offline. This section of the guide also includes a success story and closes with The 10 Best Ways to Meet Someone Right Now. Number six being the only one involving online dating.
If you haven’t already done so, you might want to consider registering and downloading How to Find the Right Person in 90 Days.
